The total number of service requests in February  was a lower than average (104 requests compared to a five-year average of 155).  Requests regarding rodents were particularly less numerous than an average February (27 requests compared to an average of 42). In smaller categories, only three dead birds were submitted for pick up and testing in February, and there was only one tick related service requests. In some prior years, laboratory staff was focused on tick surveys of residences for a study of ticks in back yards, but that effort was completed in January this year.

Service requests in the category “other” included insect-related inquiries about crane flies, cockroaches, and midges.
