2025 Service Requests

The total number of service requests in May was higher than average (525 requests compared to a five-year average of 370). All categories of service request were above average in May except for yellowjackets/wasps, which still had a seasonal increase. The reason almost all categories were elevated this May isn’t clear, but perhaps the weather and climate conditions of this year have been beneficial for a wide range of animals.

Service requests in the category “other” included insect-related requests regarding bees, bumblebees, midges, and non-insect requests regarding mites. Bee-related requests were especially numerous. Warm sunny days increase activity of a variety of types of insects.
