July 2018 CO2 Trapping Report
Average adult mosquitoes collected per trap per night

These tables and graphs show the average number of mosquitoes collected per CO2 trap per night during the month of July compared to the five-year average for the six most common mosquito species in San Mateo County. The species with the largest increase from the previous month, as well as the highest numbers compared to the average was Culex erythrothorax.  These unusually high numbers were in part due to increased sampling that took place around the two helicopter treatments conducted in Mills Field in July.  The number of trapped Culex pipiens also rose in July as a result of setting traps around service requests and mosquito issues from sewage treatment plants, water under houses and drain lines.  Data from these trap collections assisted District technicians in locating and resolving these breeding sources.
