May 2021 Service Requests
The total number of service requests the District responded to in May (217 requests) was lower than the five year May average (316 requests).
The number of mosquito service requests remained steady from April to May, and remained below-average throughout the month of May.
Dead bird calls were slightly higher than the five year average, but bird mortality in May does not appear to be related to the Salmonella outbreak that was observed at the beginning of the year. The District has tested 61 dead birds so far in 2021. All have tested negative for West Nile virus, St. Louis Encephalitis virus, and Western Equine Encephalitis virus.
The category of “other” included a variety of request types, such as bees, ticks, mites, spiders, crane flies and other flies.
